WHAT IS LP4Y ?
Founding
In 2008, Laure and Jean-Marc Delaporte set off for eleven months around the world with three of their children. The story begins in Kerala, India, where they discover a fishing village marked by the 2004 tsunami, where children out of school play for lack of resources, and where the beaches are covered in waste. The Delaporte family takes action at their own scale, cleaning the beach and rebuilding ties with neighbors affected by the natural disaster that had devastated their region a few years earlier. Through this simple action, the village comes back to life.
From this experience comes a conviction: a single person can spark lasting change. And that is how, in 2009, this belief became LP4Y.

The first center was launched in the Philippines, a country that makes it easy to set up NGOs and where English facilitates exchanges. First project: helping young people leaving prison start a fruit and vegetable delivery business. This experience gave rise to a method that has been refined project after project, but with a single ambition: helping the most excluded young people find employment through the creation of micro economic activities. This teaching approach is now deployed in 8 countries.

For 17 years, LP4Y has been working in slums and isolated villages, where the majority of young people supported durably transform their situation within a few months.

What these territories lack is not money, but vision and solidarity. These families don't need charity, but respect, social connection, and access to dignified employment. For LP4Y, poverty is not inevitable: it is an economic absurdity to be fought.

A few hundred Catalysts have already supported more than 11,000 young people, who are now drivers of progress in their communities.
​
In 2026 : 257 million young people live below the poverty line, youth unemployment reaches 12.4% worldwide, and 920 million young workers operate in the informal economy. Among 15-24 year-olds classified as NEET, 20% face significant precarity, with young women twice as affected as young men.

DEVELOPMENT
INTERNATIONAL STRUCTURE
Each LP4Y entity is registered locally and managed independently by its local team, following shared guidelines.
With strong expertise in finance, business management, philanthropy, process engineering, and change management, the board members of LP4Y Alliance entities and their project teams provide operational support in team coordination, operations management, partnerships, advocacy and fundraising events, human resources, and talent development.

Over the years, the Alliance has solidified its position in the field of professional integration for highly vulnerable youth. It has developed networks of partners and collaborated with local institutions, businesses, and NGOs to promote the inclusion of young people.​

In 2020, it was granted consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, enabling it to amplify the voices of the most marginalized youth on the international stage.
​
There, it advocates for governments to better address the needs of youth working in the informal sector, emphasizing the need to reach out directly to vulnerable populations. Excluded young people can become a force for good in society if they are supported and integrated into the labor market and as citizens.​​
​
LP4Y advocates the idea that by collaborating with all stakeholders in inclusion, both private and public, young people can achieve a sustainable escape from poverty.
