Neeraj Kushwaha, 22yo, Star of Khazana program
Life Project Center Sangam Vihar, Delhi, India
My name is Neeraj, I am 22 years old. I have 6 members in my family but I lost my father on January 9th 2020.
I was a student and volunteer worker in CHETANALAYA NGO, which helps disabled people to get their Handicap Certificate. At the same time, I passed 12th class but because of financial problems, I didn’t get admission in college. I decided to learn electronic work in a small shop because my family and I were thinking that I couldn’t work in a company because of my handicap. So, I had the idea of opening my business in electronics. After some time, I realized that I wasted my time because I didn’t learn anything so I quit. This time, I was able to pay admission in college, and a friend of mine told me about LP4Y.
I joined LP4Y on 14 February 2017, it was my first day and it was very difficult because I didn’t know how to speak English. I was very afraid at that time to introduce myself in front of the team, but all coaches and team members gave me confidence and I started to live my professional life, to train myself on Youtube as well, and to improve my English skills.
In LP4Y, I learnt lots of things: computer skills such as using Gmail, Google Drive, how to use big machines such as the big wood Cutting Machine During MEI (Micro Economy Initiative), but also soft skills like confidence, responsibilities, how to handle a team, what is team spirit, how to behave in difficult situation, or how to manage money. Also, it was the first time I went to visit a company (IBIS Hotel). I never thought before that one day I would go to a hotel. It was amazing for me and I learnt a lot of things about the professional world.
Since that time, I started to focus more on my work in LP4Y because for the first time, I thought that I should work in a company. I took confidence and I worked harder and harder in the whole program, to make my coach proud of me.
Then, I joined the Star’s Club and I became the President (so I organize events like Star’s Dinner, Lunch …). In parallel, I started to look for a job and it was very difficult for me because I was facing lots of problems during job search. After a few months, I got a cashier job in Kidzania that I had to quit 3 months later. After one-year of job search during the one I did my best, I got a job in Hello Ride Limited Company but after 3 months, the company moved to Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
Thanks to LP4Y, I had a chance to go to Mumbai for the Web Designing course in Digital Academy for 6 months. It was hard for me to make the decision because I knew that I will be far from my family and friends, but I wanted to go. It was really amazing. I missed my family, my friends, LP4Y, but I got good knowledge and confidence and I made a website with help of my Group Quiz web (Here is the link).
Thanks to LP4Y and the coaches, I achieved my dream: I flew for the first time when I went to Chennai with some other Star’s Members as volunteers for the LP4Y’s seminar in 2018.
Now, I am again in job search and I am trying to get a job in Web designing but all are asking for experience. I also go to the NGO to give trainings to the Youths and I like to do it
TEACHING IS MY DREAM AND I AM LIVING MY DREAM BECAUSE OF LP4Y SO A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL COACHES OF LP4Y IN THE WORLD BECAUSE ALL COACHES ARE DOING AMAZING JOBS TO CHANGE THE LIVES OF THE EXCLUDED YOUTHS. I UNDERSTAND, THANKS TO MY SMALL EXPERIENCE, THAT LIVING FAR FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS IS REALLY DIFFICULT SO THANK YOU ALL COACHES.
